Life Without Internet

 Being born in 1996 and with much of my life which i can remember after 2000 i have somewhat taken the internet as a given. However this blog post is going to be regarding how everything would be different in the absence of the internt. Lets first look at some of the inportant results of a world devoid of internet.
 The internet has made communication over long distances cheaper and easier. One can easily send a mail rather that talk over the phone which will result in high phone billls or writing letters which is tedious and outmoded. This aspect is one which everyone must have thought of. Another aspect with regar to e-mail or its absence ehich i dont think many people would have thought about is the problem of spam. Right now, with e mail, unwanted mail gets sent to the spam section from where it gets deleted. Any mail which is not actually spam can be sent to your inbox. Now think of a world without internet and therefore without e mail such that all mail is in the form of physical letters. A very large number of letters will be sent to your mailbox, out of which some will be spam. Sorting the spam from the important mails will be a tedious process. Further preventing spam mails from a particular source will involve writing a formal letter to this effect rather that simply clicking the button for preventing further e mails from that source. This will be much more rime consuming.
 Another thing that would be different woild be the abcence of social networkink sites. The main result of this will be that social interaction will be forced to be actual physical interaction as oppossed to digital interactions. Websotes like facebook help most people keep in touch easily even if someone has lots to do. Site such as twitter i feel bridge the gap between celebraties and ordinary people. Therefore in the absence of internet social interaction will become harder and there will be an increase in the the number of social obligations.
 Today the internet is used to listen to music. Without the internet one would have to actually buy cd's as opposed to listening to them on the internet and thos is an expensive affair.
 Other less important results of a world without internet are as follows
1. Girls will not have a platform to express their love for edward cullen
2. Harry potter fans will not have a platform to hate twilight
3. Staliking people will actually require effort

2012

Hey this is fire boy 11 again. We are one quarter of the way through the year 2012 and with December 21st 2012, the predicted doomsday drawing closer the following post will be regarding the "2012 phenomenon".
 There are two main reasons as two why people speculate that December 21st 2012 is going to in fact be the end of the world. The first reason is that the Mayan Long count calendar ends on this date. This to me doesnt make any sense at all. I will tell you why after a moment.The mayan civilization was a very developed civilization. The people were highly interested in numbers and astronomy. Further they made many calendars. People beleive that since their calender ends on that date the world to will end. So i have a calendar on my desk last year. The last date in the calendar was December 31st 2011. By the logic of said cynics the world should end on that date. Predicting the end of the world based on the Mayan calender is as sensless in my opinion to predicting the end of the world based on my calender.
 The mext doomsday theory is that on the thirt frst og December 2012, the sun, the Earth and the centre of the milky way will be linearly alligned for the first time in 26,000 years. As a result of this the world will somehow come to an end. Thats how vague these predictions are.Man has not been observing this for so much time and hence we speculate. However i beleive that this doesnt mean that its going to result in the end of the world.
 Another thing i would like to point out is that there have been thousands of dooomsday predictions in the past. CE 1000, 1666, 1910, 1924, 1954, 1990, 2000 have all been predicted to be the end of the world. However we are all still here. 2003 was another year which was predicted to be the end of the wworld. In May 2003 the planet Nibiru was predicted to crash into the Earth's surface. However when this didnt happen the apocalypse was quitely moved to a later date. There is no difference in my opinion between these past predictions and the 2012 doomsday predictions, except for the fact that the latter has had a movie based on it.
 I was watching a video on youtube (link to that in the comment section) on some other topic regarding why people tend to easily be pessimistic.This is because of a part of our brain which will beleive in the worst case scenario without much evidence but will not be opttimistic inspite of ample evidence. The video goes on to talk about how this might have been useful when man was living in forests but is of no use today. The video ends by telling us that the future will be in better than we think. This applies very well here. People will belive that 2012 will be the end of the world inspite of the fact that there is ample evidence against it or to put it in a better way there is no legitimate reason to be afraid.
 To sum it up i think that that 2012 being the eng of the worl is nonsense. Even NASA has gone out and declared that there is no reason to fear.

Rock vs Hip hop

Hey this is fire boy 11 and the topic at hand today is "Rock vs. Hip Hop/Pop". A recent trend among a lot of people i know (actually this has been happening for quite a while) is that many of them are switching to listening to hip hop or pop music. I myself prefer rock music. I have a number of reasons for this but we will come to that in a bit. I prefer old rock. Among the bands i liste to are Guns n Roses (formed in the 1980's), Aerosmith (formed in the 70's), the Beatles(formed in the 60's) and many such bands.
 The following are some of the reasons as to why i prefer rock. The first thing that i prefer in rock music over hip hop/pop is the lyrics.The lyrics in hip hop songs are repetetive and tend to get tiresome. Most hip hop songs have one or more of the following topics- sex, drugs or alcohol. There is very little variety regarding the content of the lyrics. Lets take for example the song candy shop by 50 cent. The lyrics go -
I'll take you to the candy shop
I'll let you lick the lollipop
Go 'head girl, don't you stop
Keep going 'til you hit the spot (woah)

This content wise i dont think is very much different to lollipop by Lil Wayne which has the following lyrics -
she lick me like a lollipop
she lick me like a lollipop
she lick me like a lollipop
So I let her lick the wrapper
Like a lollipop

Now let us turn our attention to rock. Two songs which have similar lyrics are Summer of 69 by Brian Adams and All Summer Long by Kid Rock.However even here the content is very different. The chorus of Summer of 69 goes as follows -
 Standin' on your mama's porch
You told me it would last forever
Oh the way you held my hand
I knew that it was now or never
Those were the best days of my life
Back in the summer of '69

Wheras the chorus of All Summer Long is -
 And we were trying different things
We were smoking funny things
Making love out by the lake to our favorite song
Sipping whiskey out the bottle, not thinking 'bout tomorrow
Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long
Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long
Though both singers talk about certain memorable periods in their life the songs are different.

 So what i am trying to get at is many hip hop songs tend to have similar lyrics. Rock on the other hand is vast. Bands write about politics (American Idiot by Green Day), aspirations (Rockstar by Nickleback), death (Knockin on Heavens Foor by Bob Dylan) and a lot of other topics.
Right so so far we have talked about repetition of content. Another thig that ticks me off about hip hop/pop is that inspite of the lack of lyrical quality it requires a lot of other people to write it. For example Party in the USA which was sung by Miley Cyrus was in fact written by five other guys. These guys get no recognition whatsoever. Further with the advent of "auto tune" even a mediocre singer can sound very good. Therefore i ask if neither the lyrics or the song is original then why are these artists getting so much recognition?
Thirdly i personally feel that rock musicains have more talent that hip hop artists (with a few exceptions here and there). I'll Tell you why in a minute. A rock band has three main instrmental components. The bass guitar, the lead guitar and the drums. To add to this is the vocals. Hip hop is mainly mainly lyrics which may or may not rhyme and a beat.At this point i would like to put out a general question. Has anyone tried playng the drums/bass/guitar? i play the guitar and have played the drums. Its not all that easy in the begining. But im suure i could work out a beat and make a rhyme. Thats why i feel rock musicains are more talented.
 The next reason as to why i prefer rock is it has more variety. There are a lot of forms of rock. Alternate, hard rock progressive etc. Lastly the impact of a good rock song is longer lasting. For example a lot of people listen to the Beatles which were big in the 60's. The song I know you want me by Pitbull was quite popular a year back but barely anyone listens to it that much anymore.
 There those are the reasons as to why i prefer rock music to hip hop/pop. Dint get me ewrong i still listen to hop hop songs and i even like some of the its just that i like rock uch better. Hey this is fire boy 11 again and most of my previous posts have been slightly on the serious side, So today i'm going to talk about something on the lighter side. I was talking to my friend the other day, and she brought up a good topic. The topic being is best friends going out a good idea or not. Since i don't have anything else to talk about, here i am. And before i start I would like to say that I am in tenth and when i state my reasons i am just referring to people in and around my age.
I have mixed feelings about this topic so I am going to write down my for arguments as well as my against topics and you can decide for yourself if best friends should go out.
Right so first my for arguments. I think that best friends going out is ideal mainly because best friends know a lot about each other already. Therefore they will know what they are getting into. They will know of each others past relationships so there wont be anything new. Also they are comfortable around each other and enjoy each others company. They can also freely talk to each other about anything, problems, thoughts, emotions, dilemmas etc.
 Secondly best friends have stayed with each other during hard or trying times providing support to each other, and therefore are best friends. The point I am trying to get at is there reliability has already been proven. Sadly those are all of my for arguments.
Now the against arguments. My first argument is that some boundary has to be drawn between best friends and girlfriends/boyfriends. Conversions with best friends can range from the mornings meal to recently seen movies to something personal. However a line has to be drawn when talking to your boyfriend/girlfriend. It has to be kept in mind that best friends are going to be those who stay with you for  longer while your relationship with your boyfriend/girlfriend is most probably temporary. You don't want to tell your current boyfriend/girlfriend something too personal. Something you will regret telling him if you break up. Especially if the break up is harsh.
 Secondly, considering you do go out with your best friend if the relationship ends badly then you will most probably be bidding goodbye to the great friendship which you initially had. Not only this, as mentioned earlier she/he may go out and tell everyone something personal you told them back when you trusted them.
 Lastly, as i mentioned earlier, i think that a best friend is someone you should be able to talk about anything, *including* the problems in your current relationship. If you are going out with your best friend then i don't think you will have anyone to talk to about the problems in that relationship as your best friend is the person is the person you have a problem against. Some may argue that if there is a problem then it should indeed be talked out and sorted by the two of them but i really feel that before this is done you must consult someone else in case you are planning to do something, what you call 'rash'. But as pointed out earlier now since your best friend is the the person you have a problem against you don't have any 'best friend' to consult first before talking about your problem.
Right so here is the deal. This friend of mine has been friends and good friends at that with this guy for over two years. Now she realizes that she likes this guy. She doesn't think that she should tell him as she thinks that it will ruin their current relationship as good friends. I have put up a poll on the right, please vote and also leave a comment.
